The Differences between Silverlight and Flex?
I was just reading an interview with one of the devs behind Flex and saw this:
One of the biggest differences between Flex and Silverlight is with adoption. 90% of the PCs on the internet already have the runtime for Flex applications installed. Flash Player is the most quickly adopted and most installed piece of software in the world. It's hard to compare Silverlight's lack of adoption with that kind of momentum.
I can't help but think that 10 years of the software vs 6 months for the release of Silverlight, do we really call that install base "momentum"?
It's not like it's probably increasing... 90% sounds about the likelihood of any software installation across all platforms.
And lack of adoption? Maybe when applications start coming out we can start making those decisions? I'd gather a lot of C# devs are at least waiting for the v1.1 tools to be released first.
