Keep Your Current Comments and Migrate to Disqus

written by Andrew Tobin on Friday, December 07 2007

So one thing I might not have been clear about in my previous posts on integrating Graffiti CMS to Disqus comments - you don't have to lose your old comments!

I posted that you can comment out the comments section of your code - but all you really have to do is turn off New comments!

The Graffiti CMS engine then decides not to post the form for new comments, will keep posting old comments and will not put up the "There are no comments..." message as it is not required.

What I'd end up advising in this case - if you have comments and want to migrate to Disqus is to actually turn off new comments in the system, then place the $disqus.CommentBox("<DISQUSFORUM>") code after the Graffiti comment system code.

I'll edit my previous posts to make this clearer, but it's something I have overlooked in setting up this code :)
