Forever playing catchup.

Damn it.

And the last thing I want to do is turn this place into a link blog or something.

Not that there is anything wrong with link blogs, but those guys have to work pretty hard daily to do those :)

  • The egoSurf webpage doesn't work properly and hasn't for a while.  Occasionally I check it out just to see how much more popular I am than mabster, but it keeps forwarding to malformed urls - sure you can fix it, but you'd think the developers would know by now.
  • Apparently my twitter page is more popular than my blog. ouch.
  • But then I've got to put my name on my blog, or at least get a reindex from Google, or linkbait someone.  Who can I say really sucks?
  • I'm waiting for anyone who wrote an article about why social networks are not open to claim some sort of victory in Facebook opening its RSS feeds up.
  • I've set up gmail to pop all my other mailboxes for email and started to really tag and filter emails.  It's working lovely, highly recommended.
  • I'm wondering why I look at the guys who I sub to on del.icio.us, and they don't subscribe to anyone.
  • I think I've gotten more news from Dave Burke and Scott Watermasysk than most of my feeds for a long time through del.icio.us.
  • I just added Grant Holliday and Scott Hanselman to my feed there as well, they both seem to be constant linkers too.
  • The del.icio.us link network seems to be totally unused by anyone on there from Mitch Denny and Dave, and Scott W, and Grant - none of them seem to have built a network there, which is insane for the usefulness of seeing what other people bookmark.
  • I've found that a lot of bookmarked nuggets never seem to actually make it to a post, but are usually pretty helpful.
  • This could have turned into a whole post on del.icio.us and probably will.
  • Warren Ellis has started an online comic called FreakAngels.
  • Joss Whedon also has a web comic up at the Darkhorse MySpace page.
  • I like that I can actually subscribe to Warren's though, Joss' I will probably forget since I can't get it via RSS :(
  • There aint much going on here.
  • Love Tumble blogs for when you can aggregate your own things, or when a group of collaborators do it.
  • Not so fond of Tumble blogs when used solely to grab other peoples articles, or fully aggregate your feed and use your content for their own news to the world feeds.
  • Start using the del.icio.us network people!
  • (I'm beginning to think that twitter is preventing me to have a thought longer than 140 characters)

It's not a "bit" post, but not bad.  Hey, man.  I'm in delicious every day.  What do you mean by the delicious network, Browncoat?

Hey Dave, Yeah I need to start posting things of more substance but I tend to spend my time reading and nothings really inspiring any wonderful ideas.

That could just be my mind failing though.

The delicious network is basically when you friend someone else in del.icio.us.  From there, if you look at your profile page you have the main line at the top of the page and then this beneath:

your favorites | your network | subscriptions | links for you | post

The second item there is your network.

It contains everyone who you've subscribed to in an aggregated feed - all the links they've bookmarked.

So if you sub to that feed, you've got a list of bookmarked items by the folks who know their stuff when surfing the web.

I mean, if Scott Hanselman or someone bookmarks it, then it's probably worth a look in.

If I look at your profile page I see this:

    "All daveburkevt's items (478)

daveburkevt is in your network, view daveburkevt's network"

If I view your network, it's blank, so while I can see guys like myself, mabster, and  Keyvan Nayyeri are watching what you bookmark, you're not watching anyone else.

I just find it useful as hell to follow what people are interested in, even if they're not posting about it.

You're absolutely right.  A great service that I should invest more time in.  Thanks!  The only stumbling block it would appear is how to know someone's delicious account name.

Yep, for the most part a lot of bloggers keep theirs on their sidebar, but you don't want to have to go to their website to read it - so hopefully they include a link.

Jayson Knight and a few others post their del.icio.us links as a full post on their blog.

But for the most part the ones I've found have been by checking out other peoples networks.

For example Keyvan is on your network so I just clicked through and added him.  Then you check out who he's linked to.

They don't hide those relationships, so you can pretty much follow the groupings, even for people who don't use the function there's usually someone that links to them - or they have a link off their blog or something.
